5 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Despair about Being Single on Valentine's Day

Are you single and have no one to spend Valentine's Day with? You don't have to feel bad or pathetic about it. And you shouldn't mind the teasing and bullying you might get. Let me tell you a not-so-secret secret: Being single on Valentine's Day is awesome too. Don't believe me? Here are why.
Reason #1: You don't have to make do with a single valentine.
I'm sure you're not the only person without a romantic partner on Valentine's Day. Gather your family and friends and have a group date instead. I'm sure it'll be more fun. And your dates won't have very high expectations as to how your date would go. You can go to the beach or to the park... it doesn't matter. What matters is you'll spend the day with the people you love.

Not really what I have in mind, but could be fun too.

For Cheap yet Delectable Japanese Food, Try Tokyo Joe in SM

Tokyo Joe in SM (ground floor) is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants mainly because it serves considerably cheaper but delicious food. This restaurant has sort of become one of my go to places, especially after having a haircut. Getting a haircut is always a harrowing experience to me, no matter how many times I’ve already done it. Rhea usually comes with me, mostly for moral support. We agree that Tokyo Joe is one of our favorite places so afterwards we always go there—me, to reward myself for my bravery and either to celebrate if my haircut turned out okay and Rhea, because she conveniently has a craving for ramen or any Japanese food. Moral support, see?

Anyway, I went back there yesterday with my niece because it was the first time that she showed interest in eating in a place other than Jollibee or McDonald's.

In Keeping with Tradition, Here Are My New Year's Resolutions

I suppose it's tradition to have New Year's resolutions. I don't really put much stock on this tradition of sorts but everyone (and that's including me) has to have something he or she wants to change, right? And what better time to think of things I resolve to do or change than the time when everyone else is also doing it.

So, here are some of the things I'd really love to do or happen this year.

Disaster Preparedness: How Ready Are You for a Super Typhoon?

After Typhoon Yolanda’s devastation in November of last year, another super typhoon is threatening our country. News of this bad weather has driven people into fresh panic. We have become more wary, and rightly so. Yolanda’s aftermath is still fresh in the minds and hearts of Filipinos. Some are still grieving their dead and reconstructing their lives and others are just beginning to get over and put behind them their horrible experience.

7 Medical Conditions and the Lies Told about Them

Back in the day (aka my childhood), mothers and older people I knew usually relied on personal experience and information gotten from their parents and other well-meaning people to cure common illnesses. The thing is, because there wasn’t Google then, people had no way of verifying—without seeing a doctor—if those passed-on information were true. And because they believe the information to be true, they usually spread on the misconceptions.

Below are some of the medical conditions I heard people around me told lies about at one time or another while I was growing up.

Why You Should Watch Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

If you haven't yet seen Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, it's time you should. If you're not familiar with this film, it is a musical created and produced in 2008, during the Writers Guild of America's strike in 2007-2008. It is a three-part mini-series created for online release, written by Joss Whedon, his brothers Jed and Zack, and Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed's wife. The music and lyrics were provided by Joss and Jed.

Dr. Horrible won several awards, including a Creative Arts Emmy. That should tell you that it's worth watching, right? Allow me to convince you more to include it in your list of films to watch.
