For Cheap yet Delectable Japanese Food, Try Tokyo Joe in SM

Tokyo Joe in SM (ground floor) is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants mainly because it serves considerably cheaper but delicious food. This restaurant has sort of become one of my go to places, especially after having a haircut. Getting a haircut is always a harrowing experience to me, no matter how many times I’ve already done it. Rhea usually comes with me, mostly for moral support. We agree that Tokyo Joe is one of our favorite places so afterwards we always go there—me, to reward myself for my bravery and either to celebrate if my haircut turned out okay and Rhea, because she conveniently has a craving for ramen or any Japanese food. Moral support, see?

Anyway, I went back there yesterday with my niece because it was the first time that she showed interest in eating in a place other than Jollibee or McDonald's.

My lunch date

There aren’t a lot of dishes at Tokyo Joe, but what dishes the place has are simply delicious, especially their ramen. Their bentos (beef misono, pork katsu, and chicken teriyaki) are Php210 each, sans drinks. TJ’s bowls (gyudon, beef teriyaki, chicken, pork katsu, and sukiyaki) have two sizes: regular (Php95)and sumo (Php145)—drinks are ordered separately.

They have four different kinds of ramen: miso, beef, seafoods, and tonkotsu. They used to have chicken ramen—it was what Rhea and I used to order. But they no longer serve it. I heard another restaurant bought TJ’s chicken ramen recipe.

Each ramen bowl is Php125.
